On looking at this photograph and learning of the place where it was made, my sister Joanna immediately conveyed her interpretation of what she saw and felt:
‘The reeds are the souls of the young men who fought and died in the Great War passing amongst the vertical silver poplar trees, which are symbolic of the men who returned home’
