The year before I had seen these trees almost submerged in a dense field of wheat. The following year, they presented themselves alone with their accompanying shadows delivered precisely beneath them in the harsh top light.

I have always been troubled by the distant tree to the left. I felt deprived that I was unable to see it’s trunk emerging from the eroded ground.
