I have always wondered at the manner in which light is absorbed and reflected by surfaces and I was thankful for the light that swept obliquely across the smiling face of this gracefully delicate palace.

There was just sufficient intensity of light to enliven the oval shaped double staircase allowing me to the pleasure of imaging myself ascending it.
