For some 10 minutes, I stood and marvelled at the breathtaking skill and craftsmanship that was evident in this stone staircase.

It seemed that no photograph of mine could ever convey my wonder at the grace and rhythm of this divine workmanship.

Thankfully, the rectangular slab of sunshine on the steps reflected back its borrowed light to highlight the hand of the mason's hammer and chisel.

There is a feeling that by climbing this staircase one may find solace and enlightenment in some celestial place.
